Clarity on your wealth management arrangements

Do you know what your wealth manager really costs?

Most people paying 1%+ a year have never had a clear, complete picture of their arrangements. Our team of CFA charterholders and Chartered Wealth Managers will help you review your existing setup — fees, performance and service — so you can be confident you're getting good value.

The introductory call and review are free, with no obligation. What you do with the information is entirely your decision.

Why arrangements deserve a closer look

Wealth management relationships tend to run on inertia. Fees are layered across several documents, performance is rarely shown against a fair benchmark, and reporting is often designed to reassure rather than inform. Understanding what you have is the foundation of every good financial decision.

Layered fees

A "1% fee" is rarely the whole story. Underlying fund charges, platform fees, dealing costs and FX spreads can take the true cost well above the headline figure — and they compound every year.

Performance without context

Returns are hard to interpret without the right benchmark and risk level. Many clients have never seen their portfolio compared, net of fees, against a simple passive alternative.

Service that's drifted

Advisers change, reviews become a formality, and your circumstances move on. It's worth periodically checking that the service you receive still matches the service you pay for.

Two ways we can help

Whether you currently use a wealth manager or would rather run your own investments, the starting point is the same: a clear understanding of your existing arrangements.

How it works

A structured, personal process — not a questionnaire and an algorithm. Every engagement is handled one to one by a qualified member of our team.

1

Free introductory call

A 20–30 minute call about your current situation — who manages your money, what you pay, how it's performed, and whether you'd prefer to use a manager or self-manage. No documents needed for this stage.

2

Understanding your arrangements

With your statements, we help you build a clear picture: your true all-in cost, performance against an appropriate benchmark, portfolio risk and structure, and the service you're receiving. You get the information in plain English.

3

You decide

What you do with the information is entirely your decision — we don't make recommendations. If you'd like a change of manager, we can help with selection and introductions to FCA-authorised firms. If you'd rather take control yourself, we can agree a fixed-fee consultancy engagement.

Small percentages, serious money

Fees are the one part of investing that is contractually certain. Because they're charged on your whole portfolio every year, small differences compound into significant sums over time.

PortfolioAll-in 2.0% p.a.All-in 1.0% p.a.Annual difference
£500,000£10,000£5,000£5,000
£1,000,000£20,000£10,000£10,000
£2,500,000£50,000£25,000£25,000

Illustrative only. Over 20 years, a 1% annual difference on £1m can amount to several hundred thousand pounds of forgone wealth.

What we help you understand

  • Your true all-in cost — management, fund, platform and transaction charges combined
  • Performance versus a fair benchmark for your risk level
  • Portfolio structure — diversification, overlaps, tax wrappers
  • Service quality — reporting, reviews, responsiveness
  • A clear, plain-English picture — so you can make an informed decision

Our fees

Transparency about our own fees is the least you should expect from a firm that helps you understand other people's.

Review of your arrangements — free

The introductory call and the review of your existing arrangements cost you nothing, and there is no obligation to act on anything you learn. If you decide to engage a new wealth manager, any fee arrangements relating to our manager selection service will be made clear to you before you proceed.

Self-management consultancy — fixed fee

Consultancy engagements are charged as a transparent fixed or project fee, agreed upfront in a short engagement letter setting out exactly what's included. No percentage of assets, no ongoing charges unless you choose ongoing support.

Who's behind Y Invest

Y Invest was founded on years spent inside London's investment management industry — so we know exactly how portfolios are run, how fees are structured, and where the industry serves clients well and where it doesn't.

We exist because the people paying the most for wealth management often have the least visibility of what they're paying and receiving. The industry's jargon, layered charges and selective reporting make that picture hard to see from the outside. We help you see it clearly.

Frequently asked questions

What does it cost?

The introductory call and the review of your existing arrangements are provided at no cost and with no obligation. Self-management consultancy is charged as a transparent fixed fee agreed upfront. If you decide to engage a new wealth manager, any fee arrangements relating to our manager selection service will be made clear to you before you proceed.

Will you tell me whether to stay or move?

No. We don't make recommendations. We help you build a clear, factual picture of your existing arrangements — costs, performance and service — so you can make your own informed decision. If you decide you'd like a change, we can help with manager selection.

What if I'd rather manage my own investments?

That's our second service. For a fixed, upfront consultancy fee we help you self-manage properly: platform selection and set-up, portfolio construction principles, security analysis and ongoing portfolio management — with optional ongoing support by email and video call. The scope and fee are agreed in writing before any work begins.

Is this financial advice?

No. Y Invest is not authorised or regulated by the FCA and does not give personalised investment advice or recommendations. We help you understand your existing arrangements and, if you decide to make a change, can introduce you to FCA-authorised wealth managers. Any advice you receive comes from those regulated firms.

What do you need from me?

For the introductory call, nothing — just a rough idea of what you have and who manages it. For the full review: recent valuation statements, your fee schedule or annual costs & charges disclosure (your manager must provide this under MiFID II), and any performance reports.

How do you select the wealth managers you work with?

On the criteria that matter to clients: transparent and competitive fees, credible investment process, quality of reporting and service, and financial strength. Introductions are matched to your specific circumstances — no firm pays to be on a list.

Is my information confidential?

Yes. Nothing is shared with any wealth manager — including the fact that you've had a review — unless and until you ask for an introduction.
